JFK Basketball Court Renovation

Sept 17, 2016

League Legends through a private donation provided new basketball hoops for the basketball court update at JFK Middle School.

League Legends in its efforts to provide recreational opportunities for the area was very proud to be part of this project and hope that the renovated courts will encourage more play and participation in athletics from students and adults. A students vs teachers game is already being planned for 2017.

League Legends will continually be fixing courts in Northampton while continuing towards our long term goals. Plans and partnerships to make updates to the existing courts at Ryan Road School, Look Park and the Hampshire Regional YMCA are in the works and League Legends will be making its mark around town a lot more in the future.

The event was a collaborative effort between Look Park. Northampton Community Television and League Legends to raise funds to renovate the basketball courts at Look Park by the playground. Citizen's Bank help promote and staff the event while Florence Hardware donated the popcorn. At the end of the night $220 was raised from parking, concessions and private donations.

There were many families of new faces joining us at the Pines Theater and being introduced to League Legends. Even Western Mass News came out for a wonderful night. We're already making plans to do it again next year and are very excited to give back to our long term community partner Look Park. Feel free to message League Legends with suggestions for movies you'd like to see!

Midsummer Classic and Legends Game

July 27, 2016

Weather played a big factor at this year's Midsummer Classic. A combination 95 degree and windy day gave way to a surprise Thunderstorm right as "The Unbeatables" sealed their championship win. The Thunder and Lightening chased away much of the crowd but the original League Legends were not deterred and played The first ever Legends Game which is sure to be a new favorite tradition. A new 16 team format and 2 court layout was met with positive feedback from our supporters. Special thanks to Red's Towing for fixing the infamous crooked hoop on court 2 just a few days before the tourney.

The teams definitely showed off their creativity this year. The team voted to have the best team name was "Green Eggs and Yams".  The team voted to have  the best jerseys was the "Lady Ballers" who were also the first ever all female team at the Midsummer Classic!

A little over $4,000 was raised and the event had it's largest attendance ever with over 500 people!

League Legends, Inc.

March 1, 2016

League Legends Foundation has changed its name to League Legends, Inc. with the Secretary of State in MA in order to broaden its scope of operating abilities. This name change is just the first step in a reboot of the organization which will be increasing its promotional and fundraising efforts in 2016 as we push towards our goals and aim to build more support. League Legends has always had great noteriety within the alumni of Northampton High School in

the past decade but will reaching towards the younger generations with youth basketball clinics. Additionally, League Legends will be holding more family friendly events including a Movie Night directly following the Midsummer Classic as well a Finest vs Bravest basketball game between the Northampton Police and Fire Departments respectively. All fundraisers will be held at an affordable price for participants and spectators made possible by the generous donation of resouces and time from our exceptional Community Partners and volunteers.

In 2016 League Legends will be reaching out to other area organizations involved in similar missions and area recreation to partner with to provide funds and resources towards the memorial court building project. There will be an engraved brick campaign where donors can have their names be a permanant part to the memorial they helped build. Larger donors will have the opportunity to advertise their business on a 3'x4' aluminum signs permanantly affixed to fencing surrounding the memorial courts for all to see for generations to come. More details to come around Memorial Day

The timeline is set to be breaking ground on the project by spring of 2018 but with a strong push the goal may be met by 2017. Keep an eye out for League Legends in the news and making appearences around town. Any suggestions on ways to improve our visability or how we operate are appreciated. It's a very exciting time here with League Legends, Inc. as we have turned the corner of being a hobby shared between friends to now being a influential non-profit.....  still shared between friends.

Join us for the journey!

2015
2015 Is In The Books

December 31, 2015

Another successful year thanks to the support of our ever growing following. League Legends, through its fundraisers including the Midsummer Classic, Midsummer Night's Gala and Golf Tournament, has been able to raise enough money to contribute to the Miles and David scholarship funds while setting aside funds towards the long term goal of building a memorial basketball court in their honor.

The Midsummer Classic had its first repeat winner in SQUAD! captained by Jordan Daniels as the tournament returned to it's familiar single champion format. The Midsummer Night's Gala was held in the Grand Ballroom at Platform Bar and Grill resulting in a wonderful evening a record silent auction bringing in over $2000. This year's golf tournament was proudly held for the first time at Northampton Country Club where ad dozen teams came out for a round with friends in some beautiful weather.

2014
1st annual League Legends Golf Tournament a Success!

September 23, 2014

Hickory Ridge Country Club in Amherst hosted this wonderful event and with the great weather and great friends a great time was had by all. 14 teams competed in the best ball tourney and the winners were; Mike Lentner, Ben Premo and Dylan Rickles. By the end of the day over $1000 was raised to support the League Legends Foundation.

A Midsummer Night's Gala feels like a dream.

August 15, 2014

For the first time the League Legends Silent Auction was held seperately from the Midsummer Classic and with glowing reviews from guests it's going to stay that way. Nearly a hundred people joined the Foundation at the beautifully renovated Platform Grill who was an exceptionally accomodating host. The Auction itself consisted of fantastic items graciously donated by area businesses. Many items went for a great deal and everyone went home happy.

Crowd favorite Rick Gifford played host to a trivia competition held throughout the night with prizes of gift certificates to Breuggar's Bagels and Platform awarded to the winners. Delicious hors d'oeuvres were served and everyone went home a winner with a coupon from Platform for a free appetizer on their next visit. The event raised nearly $2,000 and was a big step for the organization as it became the first major fundraising event to be held seperate from the Midsummer Classic in our history.

Not a drop in the sky, 7th annual Midsummer Classic our biggest yet!

August 3, 2014

After a weather scare late in the week the 2014 Midsummer classic was our biggest ever with 18 teams! A new format had many winners going home from the tournament with team "SQUAD..." winning the A division and the "Vet's Field All Stars" taking the B championship in dramatic fashion. Additionally the "Michael Jortan's" (pictured left) were voted best uniforms and "Just the Tip-Off" received the honor of best team name.

All the winners went home with gift certificates to Starr Pizza in Florence. A smaller crowd than usual had a great time too with the new edition of bounce houses for kids and the young at heart to play on between games. The event brought in nearly 4,000 dollars with a great deal of that coming from concessions sales from donations provided by Pepsi, Scotti's and Seth Mias Catering. With their help and all of our sponsors and volunteers pitching in the event was a success once again.
